Born in 1908, Wakayama Prefecture.
In 1928, he enrolled in the sculpture department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, a student of Takaji Shimizu. Graduated in 1933 – then higher diploma in 1935. In 1930, still a student, first prize at the Imperial Academy exhibition.
Exhibited regularly at Bunten, from 1938 (Fine arts) - Teaches from 1939
From 1944 to 1978 numerous awards. Exhibited at White Cement from 1939 to 1946.
Professor at Musashino Art University since 1947, executive director of the Japan Sculpture Society. 1975 Director Nitten
1979 Recipient of the Order of the Sacred Treasure
