Superb coffee table composed of a metal sculpture and a glass top. The metal sculpture represents a stag beetle / scarab in wrought iron, patinated brass and other various metals. The insect is covered in a verdigris / rust patina. The top is a rectangular glass plate with rounded ends (safety glass, some scratches from use). Mid-Century Modern, France, circa 1970. By François Melin (1942-2019), French sculptor from Essonne, well known for his animal sculptures exhibited around the world. In excellent condition, very nice patina. Metals cleaned and waxed for good preservation of the patina. Total dimensions: height 30 cm width 70 cm depth 120 cm. Dimensions of the beetle: height 28cm width 70cm depth 108cm. Dimensions glass plate: 120 x 60 cm.
