For a very long time, Britain was considered a nation of animal lovers, which was surprising to see so few animal sculptors. John exhibited his works from 1870 to 1879 at the Royal Academy in London and specialized in creating a range of horse sculptures. He became very popular with all who were. involved in horse racing, from which he created superb sculptures of the horses of the time. Due to the limited number of English sculptors and the limited time John had to create these pieces, his works are not often found, making them highly sought after by collectors of equestrian sculpture.
