"An Ivory Okimono With Daily Life Scene"
A marine ivory okimono with elephant ivory parts depicting a daily life scene of a seated craftsman while he repairs a small wheel. The wheel can move in a circular direction giving the sculpture a unique characteristic.

He holds a hammer with other tools typical of his profession and wears a tobacco holder complete with netsuke.

Signed Seiwa with engraving on a red lacquer insert under the base.

Period: Meiji end of 19th century.
