Born in Cairo into an Italian family, Simone Picciotto lived in Belgium, Italy, and France. She obtained a first Prize for Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and attended the Fernand Léger workshops. She received the 2017 ArtCité Critics' Prize, and has notably exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.
"Simone Picciotto's paintings tell fabulous stories, a gesture which draws from an inexhaustible reserve of images whose metamorphoses she unfolds in alluviums of paintings, collage of wallpaper, fabrics, obsolete and incongruous objects, vestiges of an everyday mythology, unearthed in flea markets. The artist proceeds by diversions, traps the understanding in plastic waste which takes us on a poetic wandering, in which all avenues are possible. The world of Simone Picciotto is that. of enchantment." - Lydia Harambourg
