"The Communion Of Saint Jerome. Follower Of Carracci. Italian School From The 17th Century."
Italian school from the 17th century. The Communion of St Jerome. After A. Carracci." Very beautiful canvas from the Italian school executed in the 17th century by a follower of Agostino Carracci. The canvas was re-canvased in the 18th century. It represents the communion of Saint Jerome. In the photos of The back of the painting, I marked with chalk, a wet run which had caused lifting. The canvas has some chips and wear. Some light repainting is therefore necessary. The whole is nevertheless in good condition. correct and rather natural. I found two 17th century versions of this painting, one is at the Pinacoteca in Bologna, painted on copper and another at the Musée Hiéron in Paray-le-Monial in Saône-et-Loire. French Museum of Sacred Art). The canvas alone measures 91 cm x 56 cm. Its more modern frame is in carved natural walnut, it measures 106.5 cm x 71.5 cm. I can't decipher.
