Marcel Jefferys born in 1872 in Milan - died in 1924 in Ixelles Painter of landscapes and genre scenes. Member of the Pour l'Art circle, he also regularly participates in the Salon des Indépendants. S Around 1905, his touch was freed to evoke his favorite subjects: public places, party scenes, crowds whose mobility and dynamism he endeavored to convey. To do this, he uses rhythmic, light, sometimes daring color notations ("La fête des ballons", 1905, Brussels, MRBAB). In 1914, he left for London where he could admire the work of J. Whistler and JMW Turner. Its palette is less dazzling but still harmonious and refined. Like a watercolorist, Jefferys now leaves the canvas mostly visible while he strengthens the architectural structure of his compositions. A major retrospective was dedicated to him in 1929 at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
