Chiseled bronze, gilded.
This pair of period and Louis XIV style lighting fixtures is made up of a scalloped base with moldings. The barrel is a three-sided pedestal carrying an urn bin. As was often the case under Louis XIV, the lighting fixtures were silver and not gilded.
Moreover, our torches had traces of original silvering (traces under the base). It is a more sober provincial work in ornamentation, but still elegant. The silver being worn out, they were gilded with gold leaf before presenting them.
I attached Baccarat crystal bobeches.
