Born in Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine), he took courses between 1938 and 1941 at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in the workshop of Othon Friesz. In 1941, he exhibited for the first time in Lorient. He has exhibited since 1942 at the Salon d'Automne of which he is a member. He also regularly takes part in the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon Comparisons and the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles (the latter since the 1970s). Numerous exhibitions in Paris: Galeries Denise René, La Roue, Craven, Lucien Durand, Bellint, Convergence, Principe. In 1975, the Nantes Museum of Fine Arts dedicated a major retrospective to Guy Bigot, “40 Years of Painting,” where 450 works were exhibited.
