"Corrida Scene By Marcel Leprin "
Exceptional painting by Marcel Leprin. French painter and draftsman born February 12, 1891 in Cannes and died January 27, 1933 in Paris. He frequented many artists in his short career such as: Valodon, Utter, Utrillo, Pascin, Heuzé, Frank will, Genpaul. He painted bullfighting subjects after being enrolled in a tiny bullfighting troupe which performed on Sundays in village squares. He collaborates with a bullfight magazine with unparalleled talent to make the atmosphere crazy and colorful in this festival of noise, movement, light and teremity, Leprin also decorates the walls of the "Pierre" bar in Marseille and two brothels in the red light districts. Marcel Leprin's paintings are all linked to his different states of mind, although none are similar to each other. He has had exhibitions at museums in Paris, New York, Tel Aviv, Turin. Some paintings are visible outside of private collections at the National Museum of Art Nouveau in the city of Paris, at the Carnavalet museum, at the Montmartre museum, and at the Petit Palais in Geneva. If we had to summarize his pictorial technique it would be: drawing with color and not painting. Here on this panel we have exactly the rendering of his art and his affirmed talent! With magnificent bright colors and well applied with his brush. In very good shape ! Large format and good quality oil: 85x69 cm with its frame and 82x66 cm without. Superb painting! Signed lower right and titled on the back: "toreros" visually very decorative and bright. And above all magnificent!
