Rare pedestal table / bookcase in Japanese / Chinese / Asian style, richly carved. With red marble top, swivel shelves and tripod base carved with dragon / demon heads and clawed legs. Art Nouveau / Japonisme, France, around 1880. By Gabriel Viardot (1830-1904), famous Parisian cabinetmaker specializing in the production of "Chinese-Japanese style" furniture. He distinguished himself and received several medals at the Universal Exhibitions of 1867, 1878, 1889 and 1900. In excellent condition, restored, cleaned, treated against borers, new waxed finish.
