"Black Chagrin Box, Silver Coat Of Arms, Late 18th Century"

Beautiful old oval case in black shagreen, closure with two hooks, lid decorated with a large heraldic coat of arms in silver: standing lions facing each other on either side of two shields to be identified, surmounted by a viscount's crown, motto below “IN HOC SIGNO VINCES”.

Original green velvet lining.

Certainly the setting of a precious box.

18th century period.
