Jean Goujon : “diane De Poitiers Paperweight”

Jean Goujon (1510-1567): “Diane d'Anet”, silvered bronze paperweight on morello cherry marble base, 11.5 cm subject alone, 15 cm with the base. This beautiful object is, of course, a 19th century cast featuring the bust of the famous Mannerist sculpture representing the sublime Diane de Poitiers as Diana the Huntress. In addition to the slightly worn silvering at the “caressing points” as is often the case, we will appreciate the finesse of the carving, particularly of the tiara and the elaborate hairstyle.
