“the Village Rooster” Terracotta By Goldscheider. flag

Object description :

" “the Village Rooster” Terracotta By Goldscheider."
Originally from Bohemia, Arthur GOLDSCHEIDER was born in Pilsen in 1874 and since 1900 has directed the art publishing factory created by his father at 25 rue de paradis in Paris. The greatest artists of the time inspire his creations, whether in bronze, marble or terracotta; The work presented entitled "the village rooster", features a young boy in a presumptuous posture: in fact, he taunts us with authority, his hands in his pockets, a twig in his mouth, and his outfit reflects more that of a young man than that of a little boy; A scar on his right cheek accredits the brawler who is not afraid of anyone, so many elements finely treated to highlight the chosen subject. Work in painted terracotta with signature and proof of edition on the base. Only two leaf endings are missing at the foot of the character (photo). Interesting subject very different from the sentimentality born at the beginning of the 20th century and whose treatment celebrates the talent of Arthur GOLDSCHEIDER.
