"Sculpture The Triumph Of Bacchus Clodion "
Bronze sculpture with brown patina representing "the triumph of Bacchus" signed on the right on the Clodion terrace. Rests on red veined marble. Circa mid-19th century Claude Michel, known as Clodion (1738-1814) was born in Nancy and died in Paris. He won the Prix de Rome in 1759 and stayed in Italy for around ten years, during which he enjoyed great success. He executed, according to his drawings brought back from Italy, many terracotta sculptures: bacchanals, bas-reliefs and other subjects.
