"3 Piece Service In Iron Earth On The Monuments Of Paris, Faïencerie De Clairefontaine"
Serving part including a tureen with its lid, a sauce boat and a deep dish. On the tureen are represented Notre-Dame de Paris and the Arc de Triomphe. On the gravy boat the Luxembourg Palace and the Opéra Garnier. On the hollow dish the town hall. We find on each piece the coat of arms of Paris framed with plant motifs. Circa 1890-1913. Bears the brand Terre de Fer, LG, monument of Paris on each piece. Léon Graves was director of the Clairefontaine earthenware factory in Haute Saône between 1890 and 1913. The Manufacture was active between 1804 and 1832. He introduced the airbrush decoration technique into the factory, the motifs of which were very successful. The Clairfontaine Manufacture received a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of Vesoul in 1897. The tureen and the deep dish have a few small chips.
