"Large Ligurian Hunting Knife "
Superb and very large hunting knife of Ligurian origin towards the end of the 18th century. It is composed of a strong, 7 mm thick blade with a relatively unusual Bowie shape. It ends in a false counter-edged shape and has a deep central groove. Above it and on each side, very deep engraving and carvings of foliage, foliage and animals. Following this, a band engraved with waves before a superb ricassot 4.7 cm long on which appears on one side a rearing sealed horse surrounded by foliage and on the other a standing man undoubtedly representing a hunter. Following this are three sections joining the handle composed of a metal ring and eight sections of brown horn streaked with metal fillet and separated by eight chiseled metal parts. Metal pommel chiseled into sections of horns revealing the end of the mortée series at the top of the dome. No cracks. The Knife is in exceptional condition with very small stains on the blade and no damage on the handle. Later rigid leather case but intended for the Knife.
