Fede rings (from the Italian word "trust") are derived from the ancient Roman device of two hands clasped together as a token of faith. The design was called dextrarum iunctio, from the Latin meaning clasped right hands. Such rings were often used in medieval times as wedding rings or as symbols of faithful love.
