These embossed silver plates were used to decorate the saddles of Gaucho riders. The largest bears the name ‘Boiadeiro’ in capital letters, against a background of foliage and flower buds. It is mounted on a wooden blade and is numbered ‘54’, accompanied by the shooting star mark.
The second plate, centred ‘Francano’, features a symmetrical design of flowers, leaves and birds and is stamped ‘garantido’.
Finally, the smallest plate, also mounted on a wooden blade, is centred on a round, concave medallion whose band bears the initials ‘MCES’. The decoration is the richest: two large scrolling branches of flowers in a frame of pearl stripes.
