Gouache, also known in the French form gouache, is a type of tempera color made heavier and more opaque by the addition of a white pigment (e.g., white lead or chalk) mixed with gum arabic (gum tragacanth was once preferred). The result is precisely a more opaque and more opaque color than normal tempera color.
The term can also refer to both the painting technique and the paintings executed with this type of color
Aldo Renato Guttuso (Bagheria, December 26, 1911 - Rome, January 18, 1987) was an Italian painter and politician, among the most important Italian artists of the 20th century, improperly referred to as an exponent of socialist realism, a protagonist of Italian neorealist painting who expressed himself in the artists of the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti, a senator from 1976 to 1983.
