About the artist:
Heinrich Böhmer studied from 1876 to 1883 at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. He starts with Andreas Mueller, Heinrich Lauenstein and Peter Jansen. Later, in 1878, he entered the landscape class of Eugen Gustav Dücker, whose study master he was from 1881 to 1883. In his landscape paintings, Heinrich Böhmer dealt almost exclusively with motifs from the Harz , the Eifel, the Vogelgebirge and the Odenwald. He had previously carried out studies.Böhmer exhibited almost regularly at the Düsseldorf exhibitions, the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and the Berlin Academy Art Exhibition. With his light-filled, atmospheric and partly idealized forest landscapes, which reflect particular botanical details that are extremely naturalistic, he achieved great fame and popularity that lasted into the 20th century. He was a member of the German Art Cooperative, the Düsseldorf Artists' Association for Mutual Support and Assistance (VDK) and the Malkasten artists' club in Düsseldorf (1883 - 1922/23).
