Object description :

"Cast Brass Chest, Humorous Village Scenes Decor, Tavern And Bowling Game"
Charming little chest decorated with medieval village scenes representing everyday life in our countryside treated in a humorous way. These different decorations are all made of high-relief embossed brass and plated on a wooden frame. Our chest opens at the top with a sloping, edged lid. It rests on two side crosspieces, each equipped with two swivel casters. The scene depicted on the lid is inspired by a painting by Tenier entitled The Bowling Game, and bears the inscription in relief at the bottom left of the lid. ( view the photo ). It is in perfect condition, note, some traces of wear, tiny dents on the brass testifying to the age of this chest and its use (see photo). Also note that the hinges have been changed. Very beautiful workmanship from the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century. This piece of furniture, both decorative and practical, will easily find a place.
