"Maurice Vaumousse (1876-1961) “village View” School Of Rouen, Student Of Delattre, Pinchon, Hodé"
Adorable little oil on cardboard by Maurice Vaumousse representing a view of a village or town, signed lower left. Format of the painting without frame 13x19cm or 26x32cm including frame. It is therefore a very pretty little oil/carton by Maurice Vaumousse of post-impressionist style, he chooses here to paint a village, very probably in the surroundings of Rouen; his technique is immediately recognizable thanks to his powerful, slightly impasto touch, rich in material and his palette made of greens, blues, browns, sky blue, with a few subtle touches of vermilion red, very beautiful work worthy of the best painters of the school of Rouen of which he is one of the solid members alongside his friends Delattre, Pinchon, Guilbert, Hodé, Henocque and Dumont. Maurice Vaumousse is a student of Joseph Delattre and Philippe Zacharie. He is a violinist at the arts theater and lives at 18 rue Louis-Ricard then 138 rue Martainville in Rouen. He participated in many fairs and exhibitions, including: 24th exhibition of the Society of Rouennais Artists, Rouen in 1933, 39th exhibition of the Society of Norman Artists, Rouen in 1950, etc. He is buried in Saint-Aubin-Épinay. It is of course referenced in numerous works on the Rouen school including: François Lespinasse, L'École de Rouen, Rouen, Lecerf, 1995, 348 p. or François Lespinasse (pref. François Bergot), L'École de Rouen, Sotteville-lès-Rouen, Fernandez, 1980, 221 p This small painting is in very good condition, delivered in an old frame with glass. Guaranteed authentic work
