Rather spectacular and astonishing, this box is perfectly in the typical spirit of what concerns the Napoleon III style. That is to say very loaded for maximum effects. This box rests on four ball feet, it is covered in royal blue plush velvet, dotted with beaded cartouches and with ormolu rod edges with pearl and picot effects. The top is a trompe l'oeil painted porcelain plaque representing "pietra dura" work (in other words Florence marble marquetry). Its interior is black paper and it still has its key.
