"Coastal Landscape At Sunset By George Augustus Williams (british, 1814-1901)"
The coastal scene at sunset was executed by the famous English landscape and marine painter George Augustus Williams (1814 – London – 1901). Victorian artist and member of the Williams family of painters, who were related to such famous artists as James Ward, RA and Georges Morland. His father was a renowned landscape painter, who taught him to paint; otherwise, he received no formal instruction. George Augustus painted riverscapes of the Thames, moonlit landscapes, seascapes and views of Kent, Wales and beyond. After having four children, George and Caroline moved to Barnes, London, a short walk from the River Thames, where they lived for over fifty years.
