Karel Van Belle (Charles Van Belle) is a Belgian painter born in Ghent in 1884 and died there in 1959. He was a painter and decorator. Training at the Ghent Academy under the direction of J. Van Biesbroeck, J. Delvin and L. Tytgadt. Honorable mention (third prize) at the Prix de Rome in 1913. Precious and refined painted scenes in which predominantly mystical female figures have been placed, a sort of spiritualized representation of an inner dream. So was born among others? Madonnas, figures of young girls, greyhounds, decorative panels. Also found inspiration in romantic and historical scenes.
