"Baccarat: Beautiful Moutardier, Complete, In Black Crystal. “harcourt Missouri” Model."
BACCARAT factory. MOUTARD PAN with hexagonal section, fitted with its spoon, made of solid mold-blown crystal and tinted black throughout, decorated – sober and elegant – with large flat ribs adorning the body, and forming a multi-lobed neck. Pontil mark on the reverse of the base, carefully ground. Grip button surmounting the cover, and taking this hexagonal shape; the spoon, matching and original, is also made of black crystal, molded and pressed. The crystal here is particularly dense and thick; it almost looks like stone. Both matte and shiny, it is dazzling in quality. It is indeed an article of tableware, certainly useful, but above all very decorative, luxurious, rare and prestigious. Model called “Harcourt Missouri”, produced by the BACCARAT Manufacture. Quite modern work, last third of the 20th century - 1980s. Each of the three elements making up this mustard pot are all signed: - circular stamp "Baccarat France" affixed to the body of the mustard pot, on the reverse of the base, in the center of the pontil; - this same stamp is found, but smaller, on the reverse of the base of the lid; - as well as under the teaspoon. See photos n°3, 4, 5. Another interesting fact, the mustard maker has retained, as can be seen in the photo, its original marketing label in gold paper, bearing the image of Baccarat, as well as two of its three anti-slip (to prevent scratches from occurring under the object). This model, “Harcourt Missouri”, is a combination of two designs already existing at Baccarat, both with cut sides. On the other hand, black crystal models are much rarer, because they are very, very complex to make technically. The prices of black crystal items are in no way comparable to those of uncolored and clear crystal items (black crystal is much more expensive). The original idea—revisiting the “Harcourt” model with black crystal—is that of Philippe Starck: the Baccarat Manufacture first produced “Harcourt” glasses in entirely black crystal, before applying this idea to other elements. (table accessories in particular). DIMENSIONS: - total height of the Moutardier, with its lid, of 12.00 CM; - height of the base alone of the Moutardier, without the lid, of 07.50 CM; - diameter at the opening of the Moutardier, 08.75 CM; - length at the base, the base, 04.90 CM; - length of the spoon, 10.00 CM; - its width, wingspan, is 02.10 CM. CONDITION REPORT: The mustard pot is in absolute perfect condition, like new, without any wear or alteration. There is really no wear or signs of use. Looking very closely, tiny trace of use on the body of the mustard pot, almost invisible (micro-scratch from use, without any impact), and, also, tiny trace of use again at the top of the spoon (photo n°6) but, really, it is invisible, undetectable, without impact. This is absolutely not noticeable. The mustard pot is really like new, superbly preserved. It is a very beautiful and rare object.
