Old Door Hanging Curtain In Woven Striped Silk Embroidered With Louis XVI Floral Medallions

Very beautiful panel of old woven silk measuring 305 cm x 125 cm with a pattern of delicate stripes and embroidered with flower medallions in light relief held by garlands of flowers. Between the medallions, the background is dotted with a half of flowers on stems. The panel is partially bordered with a wide, nicely worked fringed braid of matching trimmings. Very beautiful color called "old gold" with changing reflections depending on the light. On either side of the width, the selvage finishes the fabric. A beautiful material, a tight and supple weave at the same time, very beautiful stitching work, a high quality fabric! If you do not wish to maintain this panel in its original use, its substantial footage will allow you to upholster seats - armchairs or lovely little bedroom chairs - or to make beautiful cushions and many other things according to your needs or as you wish. 19th century period, Napoleon III. Dimensions: height 305 cm x 125 cm width. A 30 cm flap at one end can be unstitched to obtain additional fabric height. This fabric is old and has been used. It is in good condition with very slight marks of age and dirt mainly on the hem. Part of the braid is unstitched. No haloing or discoloration.
