Late 19th century India Remarkable shawl tapestry mounted as a curtain or door with beautiful Kutch embroidery on cotton - India late 19th century. Indian cotton dyed with cochineal and indigo at the edge, using the ligated wax reserve technique, giving these white and indigo dots (Tie and Dye). Design with central square and lateral Swastika crosses, happy symbols of Hinduism. Embroidery of polychrome floche silk threads and mica mirror appliques. Lining sewn from greenish cotton twill. A few discreet brown spots (original dye?) in the center and at the edges, which blend into the decor. A few rare small holes. Good structural condition and colors preserved. Dimensions: 220 x 147 cm
