Beautiful impressionist canvas dated 1921 in very good condition. (Very small, well-made and invisible restoration). Original frame with key (some alterations). It is undoubtedly the square of a southern village with a clump of trees in front of the church. The colors are delicate and luminous. It is a painting by Marie Villedieu, a French artist referenced as a portrait painter. She was born in the 19th century in Montélimar (Drôme). Student of Louis Deschamps. She appeared at the Salon of French Artists; received a medal in 1900 at the Universal Exhibition. She also exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries. The Auxerre museum keeps a portrait of her. Dimensions without frame, 51.5 cm x 35.5 cm. With frame, 65 cm x 49.5 cm.
