Louis-Paul PAQUEREAU, known as Paul PAQEREAU1871-1956) "View of Etretat with boats on July 14, 1922" Watercolor and heightened with gouache, signed and dated lower right in black ink "P. Paquereau 1922" numbered "13 " in graphite at the bottom right (certainly from a series of watercolors on Etretat) Dimensions with frame: H.65cm x L.79cm Pretty and large watercolor of the lively beach of Etretat on July 14, 1922, all the boats on the shore displaying the French flag. Very good condition and very well framed. Originally from Normandy, Paul Paquereau began at the Salon des Indépendants in 1924. Close to Raoul Dufy, Othon Friesz and Charles Dufresne with whom he exhibited. Renowned for his watercolors executed on the motif, always in bright colors. He also designed sets for shows in famous Parisian theaters, as well as for the Ballets Russes, also for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Philadelphia Opera, the Chicago Opera and the London Opera.
