"The Painter's Workshop, Oil On Canvas 19th Century Baroque Interior Scene 17th Century Hals"
Oil on canvas representing the rich interior or workshop of a copyist painter. In the center of the painting, in front of a heavy burgundy curtain separating the room in two, stands an easel presenting La Bohémienne by Frans Hals. In the background, near a sideboard filled with art objects, other paintings hang, including the presumed self-portrait of Joos van Craesbeeck, entitled The Smoker. It should be noted that these two well-known works, characteristic of the Dutch Baroque of the first half of the 17th century, were painted at the same time, around 1626. However, they were unlikely to be in the same place before being brought together by the Louvre Museum, which preserves them. If doubt persists, the tube painting visible in the foreground would complete the mystery by taking the viewer back to the middle of the 19th century. Overall dimensions: 53 x 45 cm Dimensions at sight: 39 x 31 cm Good state of conservation. Relining.
