"Meerts Franz (belgium, 1836-1896) – Italian Peasant Woman – Watercolor – Signed"
Very colorful watercolor, representing an Italian peasant woman sitting along the road, in front of a panorama of mountains. The details of the traditional costume are finely executed and form an interesting contrast with the decorative elements in shades of gray and green. The work is placed under glass, in a double marie-louise in laid paper.
It is signed lower right. The artist added the word “Sonino” to his signature.
The frame, in good condition, is modern.
