"Pair Of Cruets And Their Tray, Gilt Silver, France 1831-1847"
Cruets with lids with circular feet and a large pear-shaped body on which a different decoration is chiseled and guilloché on each. On the wine cruet: palm leaves, vines with bunches of grapes and on the water cruet: palm leaves, bouquets of rushes. The circular foot is decorated with a laurel frieze. The pouring spout is flared and has high curved edges, a beaded ring separates it from the body. The attached handle is in the shape of a crozier highlighted with plant windings and a rosette. The very pronounced oval burette tray has a central depression, with the burette positioning pins. The edge is highlighted with a frieze of water leaves, bouquets of rushes and vine mushrooms are presented on the marli. This set is the work of a Parisian goldsmith, Alexis Renaud**, active between 1831 and 1847 and was made at the time of the change of the title hallmarks.
