Original wooden frame (usual wear). Very good quality, copper and silver patina.
Dimensions of the frame: 74 x 59 cm. Dimensions of the painting: 60 x 45 cm. Signed and dated 1929.
Jacques Maes (Ixelles, 1905 - Bernicarlo -Spain, 1968).
Painter, draftsman and engraver. Trained at the Brussels Academy with Delville, Richir, Montald and Combaz (1920 - 1924 and 1933 - 1934). he created decorative panels for the Universal Exhibition in Brussels. Maes was one of the fathers of "animism". From 1936, he was a professor and teacher at the Brussels Academy. he stayed in Peru and directed a workshop in Lima.
Works in the museums of Brussels, Antwerp, Ixelles, Louvain, Ghent, Mons, La Louvière and Tournai.
