"Ducommun Girod Music Box With Levers Outside"
Antique and exceptional Ducommun Girod music box with "exposed contols" Ducommun Girod was one of the first music box manufacturers in the early 19th century. He is known for his fine arrangements and his very refined music boxes. This music box plays 6 melodies as shown on the original melody card. The polished base plate bears the serial number (11069) and the signature "Ducommun Girod" in the upper left corner of the plate. The case is made of simple fruit wood, which is typical of the period. The melody map is original, a little discolored, but readable. The first music boxes always had a simple case without marquetry, but they are undoubtedly the rarest and of the highest musical quality. https://youtu.be/8ikJJjdPBDU
