Pretty statue in spelter with golden-brown patina, titled on the terrace "the olive tree" and "the branch of work", signed E. Picault. It rests on a green marble base. This beautiful sculpture represents a shirtless worker with bulging muscles, brandishing a branch in his right hand and holding a hammer in the other hand. Note, a tiny wear on the back of the arm holding the hammer. André Emile Louis Picault born August 24, 1933 in Paris and died 1922 in Paris at the age of 89 is a French sculptor, student of the painter Henri Royer, he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1963 to 1914. His work mainly includes allegorical and patriotic subjects and figures of warriors and ten mithilogical heroes.
