Original label on the back of the background inscribed : le Vice Roi d'Egypte à fait construire ce dock en fer, par la société nouvelles des forges et chantiers de la méditerranée à la Seyne. Il a une longueur totale de 150 mètres, sa largeur en dehors est de 30 mètres, sa hauteur totale est de 12 mètres, il pèse quatre million six cent mille kilogrames. Il est parti de la Seyne le 3 juillet 1868 remorqué par les Paquebots amérique de 400 chevaux et Indus de 300 chevaux sous la direction de allègre marius capitaine au long cours, chargé en chef de cette expédition. Il est arrivé en bonne condition dans le port d'Alexandrie le 1er août de la même année.
