Magnificent oil on wood representing characters and a camel on the banks of a river in an oriental decor. The painting is signed Billet for Etienne Billet (1821-1888) a French orientalist painter. French painter born in the city of Marseille. He was trained in Aubert's workshop and was a student in 1842 of Drolling and Léon Cogniet in Paris. Painter of portraits, landscapes in the realistic, romantic and orientalist style. At the end of the 1850s he made several trips to Algeria and stayed in Egypt for a few years. Works in museums: Marseille and Salenstein.

Dimensions with frame: 45 cm x 76 cm.
Dimensions without frame: 24.5 cm x 55 cm.

Good condition.
