"Mahogany Handkerchief Games Table, Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period – Mid-19th Century"
Beautiful solid mahogany table decorated with brass inlays with handkerchief top that transforms into a games table. In the belt, we find a drawer, inlaid with a brass net, with original brass entry lock and key in working order. The upper part of the feet are also inlaid with brass threads around their perimeter. The underside is surrounded by a half-round to square brass molding. This table rests on four “spindle” legs turned into a spindle and covered with fixed brass grooves. A bronze collar at the top and a ball shoe at the bottom adorn each foot. The top of this table is made up of four triangles inlaid with small brass threads lined with a larger one. On the three edges of these triangles we find a quarter round in brass. By pivoting the top slightly, the end of a triangle lifts allowing the table to be opened. This is done on inlaid brass hinges visible from the inside. In each of the four elements we find a circular element for placing pawns. The central part is covered with green felt with braid. These angles are concave. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop Varnished finish Additional photos available by clicking on the following link: https://www.antiquites-lecomte.com/boutique/table-de-jeux -and-workers/game-table-called-handkerchief-style-louis-xvi-period-napoleon-iii-middle-19th Delivery possible in France and internationally.
