"Fine Stone Anagram Ball Book, Early 19th Century"
Prom card in brown tortoiseshell and gold. Cover of the notebook decorated with chiseled gold spandrels decorated with ivy leaves and a setting of turquoise and diamonds. In the center of the notebook, an anagram of fine stones can be deciphered: Sapphire, Opal, Uvite Rhodolite, Red Vesuvianite, Emerald, Natrolite, Idrocase, Ruby; The anagram forms the word “souvenir”. This fashion jewelry or acrostic objects was created by the Nitot founders of Maison Chaumet. This fashion will continue during the Restoration. The notebook includes a finely chiselled gold pencil enhanced with a turquoise half-pearl. Silk interior. Probably later pages.
