"Charles X Period White Opaline Box "
Rectangular box in blown and cut opal crystal. White opaline called “soapy opaline” has a “bamboo tip” cut. Its gilded and chiseled bronze frame is decorated with a frieze of flowers. The box is decorated on the sides with medallions or handles in the shape of a scallop shell. The entrance to the lock is surrounded by a wreath of flowers. The box rests on four winged lion paw feet. By the quality of its opaline and the great finesse of its gilded bronze decoration, this box is representative of decorative objects produced in the first half of the 19th century.
