"Tea Box In Macassar Ebony, England 19th Century "
Lovely English tea box, from the Victorian period, veneered with Macassar ebony on an exotic wood core, and decorated with rich studded copper fittings and coats of arms. Hard and heavy Macassar ebony, deep black, with fiery reflections, is one of the most precious woods. Inside are two boxes veneered with light wood to hold teas. The lids once had a pin to open them. at the back two copper decorations have been removed, but this does not hinder the general aesthetics of the box. Apart from this small detail, good general condition, no lack of veneer.
