Roberto Masi is considered an important exponent of Italian Primitivism. He began his career as a painter in 1962 by painting small fragments of a horse or a house. Since then Masi has embarked on a path that has led him to develop a highly personal style. Masi's world is the antithesis of the expressionistic world.
Roberto Masi was born in Florence in 1940 in a poor neighborhood on the right bank of the Arno river. After two years the strong impulse of Art returned and he began to frequent artistic circles first and then directly the studios of painters from his city including Pietro Annigoni, Enzo Pregno, Antonio Bueno. The meeting with Professor Pilade Giorgetti was decisive for the development interior and for the definitive inclusion in the Florentine artistic environment. He attended the free academy of Nude at the Academy of Art of Florence. In 1970 he attended the artistic group "Segno rosso" which concretized with an exhibition in 1972 at the Il Moro art studio in Florence, home of the group.
