Greco-Buddhist art from Gandhara, 1st to 3rd century AD, important and very rare embossed gold pendant decorated with a scene representing the attack of a lion on a buffalo. The pendant has two rings on its top on which two tiny fragments of semi-precious stone are inserted. The pendant is made of 18 carat gold. The pattern of this pendant is very similar to that depicted on ancient Greek coins. Provenance: acquired from a specialized Parisian antique dealer in 1978. Good state of conservation. Total height: 4.4 cm. Length 4.7 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone.
