"Antique Large Silver Frame By Russian Manufactory Grachev Early 20th Century"
Simple and strict shape large photo/picture frame of medium. Presumably the frame was made by Factory of the Grachev brothers (see marks “Br. Grachev”) at the beginning of the 20th century. The company was engaged in the production of sculpture, religious objects, household items, toiletries, table and tea sets, and dishes, selling its products not only in Russia, but also abroad, where, as contemporaries wrote, they were in significant demand. The works of the Grachev brothers' factory were awarded at the All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod, as well as at exhibitions in Copenhagen (1888) and Chicago (1893). In 1892, The company was awarded the title of court suppliers of the Russian Imperial Court.
Size app.: 48.7 cm (roughly 19.2 in) high, 37.1 cm (roughly 14.6 in) wide, 1.6 cm (roughly 0.6 in) deep. Weight of ca 740g silver and 1,5 kg overall. Very good condition, minimal age and usage wear, with mahogany back. There is no wooden strip for installing the frame on the table, but there is a silver loop for mounting the strip (see photo).
