Beautiful and large box or casket in biscuit (outside) and porcelain (inside). It is signed on the reverse Coquet (for Jean-Louis Coquet), Limoges, France. The decor represents an interpretation of the very famous fresco known as “The Merchant of Love” currently preserved at the Archaeological Museum of Naples. The young woman on the right presents for sale small garlic loves kept in a cage. The bottom frieze represents four different scenes of Cupids playing. Frame and grip in richly openwork gilded brass.
