Halfway between the theme of the Immaculate Conception and that of the Coronation of the Virgin, our painting shows the radiated Virgin Mary receiving the crown from the hands of her son. Standing on a crescent moon - a star symbolizing her purity - surrounded by angels, the Child's mother appears with a youthful face full of grace. Although resolutely devout, this delicate painting, with its smooth touch, the softness of the faces and the suppleness of the drapes, is a true manifesto of beauty.
Although it is difficult to attribute this work with certainty, it must be compared to the art of the Veronese painters Alessandro Turchi (1578 – 1649), Pasquale Ottino (1578 – 1630) or even Claudio Ridolfi (1560 – 1644), all three followers of precious, small-format painting on noble supports such as stone.
The painting is presented in a carved and gilded wooden frame with an inverted profile sandblasted in the grooves, Italian work from the 18th century. Dimensions: 26 x 18 cm – 41 x 34 cm
