BIOGRAPHY
Louis Fortuney was born in 1878 and died in 1950. He is essentially a pastelist, well known for his genre subjects and his scenes of Parisian life, its characters taken from life and vividly colored. A student of Fine Arts in Toulouse, Fortuney, an everyday illustrator, initiated by Toulouse Lautrec, Gervex, Sisley and Renoir, is an expressionist figurative painter close to Fauvism and Pastellist of the elegant or Estérel.
An anarchist, he refuses official fairs and art dealer contracts.
His paintings are scattered without ever having been presented in public.
It is listed on the Bénézit and on the dictionary of little masters of painting (Schurr).

first part of the 20th century Condition: correct condition, but not perfect: The passe-partout has yellowed over time, on the other hand the colors of the pastel remained fresh and bright, there is a tiny hole at the top right, flush with the mat glued to the paper. Sold with the framing cardboard.
