Object description :

"Altar Stone In Black Marble And Its Relic - 19th Century"
It is always difficult to date an altar stone and it is a bit arbitrarily that I attributed it to the 19th century.
Of good dimensions, it has its tomb in which a relic has been inserted. The altar stone is undoubtedly the most sacred element in a church. Meeting point between the terrestrial and celestial world, it is here that the Divine operates. To be consecrated, a relic was necessarily sealed in the altar of the church. Our altar stone of course has its relic inserted on the upper face of our marble.
There we find the 5 crosses, here flared and white, which represent the five wounds of Christ. Dimensions of 30 cm by 30. Good condition
